Several records set during MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium

The 2022 MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium was the highest-attended series of stadium events since the festivities took place at Yankee Stadium in 2008.

Over a three-day span of All-Star events at Dodger Stadium, MLB announced 152,182 attendees. It started with a paid attendance of 49,565 at the MLB Futures Game to kick off the All-Star on Saturday.

The All-Star Celebrity Softball Game also took place that night, and it had considerable buzz thanks to the participation of Grammy Award-winning Bad Bunny.

Next was the Home Run Derby, which drew a crowd of 50,099 to watch some of the sport’s best hitters throw balls into the clubhouses. Then came the All-Star Game, which had the largest crowd of the three flagship events, with a draw of 52,518.

Home race derby ratings

Alongside the Home Run Derby airing on ESPN, another Statcast broadcast was available on ESPN2. Per MLB, it drew 858,000 viewers, making it the most-watched Statcast simulcast of the Home Run Derby since the format launched in 2018.

Play Ball Park & ​​All-Star Oceanfront

Fans also turned out in droves at MLB’s community shows, with Play Ball Park at the Los Angeles Convention Center and All-Star Oceanfront at Santa Monica Pier and Beach drawing a total of 151,600.

Play Ball Park was open for four days, July 16-19, and Oceanfront All-Star ran July 15-17.

2022 MLB Draft at LA Live

Los Angeles All-Star Week also featured the first time the annual MLB Draft was held outdoors. Held at Xbox Plaza on the LA Live campus, the Draft drew over 1,000 fans and 200 members of the media, both of which were record breaking.

All-Star Game Merchandise

Dodger Stadium set an All-Star record for merchandise sales at a baseball stadium, surpassing the previous record of more than 60% revenue increase at Yankee Stadium in 2008.

Additionally, the MLB store operated by Fanatics inside Play Ball Park set an all-time sales record. Sales of All-Star Game merchandise on and Fanatics recorded the highest totals in history and were up +57% from 2021.

More Nike All-Star Game jerseys and New Era All-Star caps have been sold on than ever before.

Dating back to 2020, when the Dodgers originally planned to host the All-Star Game, MLB, the team and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation have made more than $6 million in contributions to local nonprofits.

The 2022 All-Star Legacy initiative addressed equity gaps in youth athletic development, education, homelessness and veterans issues. The Justin Turner Foundation helped renovate Volunteers of America Transition House on Skid Row.
