Harley Quinn leads the charge in AR tabletop game ARKHAM ASYLUM FILES
Arkham Asylum is as important a place to Batman as the Batcave. The menacing old institution that houses most of the Dark Knight’s worst enemies has already spawned a series of video games. And now it is also a premium puzzle box game. The Arkham Asylum Files: Panic in Gotham City combines augmented reality technology with tabletop board games. And it tells an original tale that draws inspiration from decades of Bat-lore.
The people at Infinite Rabbit Holescreators of Why so serious?, started a countdown Starter to promote The Arkham Asylum Files. And you can see the game’s first trailer here, along with several images:
Bat fans will be able to solve a series of epic mysteries dreamed up by the Joker himself. And they will also be able to sift through evidence, as well as interact with over 100 game pieces, secret documents and artifacts. All in a 6 hour escape room style experience.
Puzzles take the form of numbers, puzzles, word games, spectrographs, and black light images. The game comes with an iOS/Android app that facilitates gameplay with original animation and live content. All creating a whole new experience.
Players will be able to unbox an array of incredible collectibles, including Arkham Asylum patient files, Joker playing cards, detailed schematics, police evidence bags, and journals. And all of them are in the universe and at the service of a linear scenario.
Players can work alongside Dr. Harleen Quinzel herself. Yes, in this game, Harley Quinn persuaded the authorities to let her return to practicing psychiatry to unmask Arkham’s most infamous residents. Panic in Gotham City even comes with randomly packaged Batman or Joker masks.
The game is said to be production-ready and set for a December 2022 release. For more information, feel free to head over to The Arkham Asylum Files’ official Kickstarter page.
