Actress Anushka Sharma said on Saturday she would be leaving her production company, Clean Slate Filmz, which she co-founded with her brother Karnesh Sharma, to focus on her “first love” – acting.
Anushka Sharma co-founded Clean Slate Filmz in 2013 with her brother and has gone on to support critically acclaimed films like Netflix’s ‘NH10’, ‘Pari’, ‘Philauri’ and ‘Bulbbul’ and the Prime Video series ‘Pataal Lok’. .
The 33-year-old actor is now returning to acting with ‘Chakda Xpress’ after a four-year hiatus. The film is also her first project since she and her husband, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, welcomed their first child together – daughter Vamika – in January 2021.
Anushka Sharma took to Instagram and shared a note, writing that Karnesh Sharma will run all business going forward and be the sole decision maker at Clean Slate Filmz.
She said when she started Clean Slate Filmz with Karnesh Sharma, they were “newbies” who had “fire in their stomachs” wanting to establish an entertainment schedule in the country through messy content.
“Today, when I look back on our journey so far, I am deeply proud of what we have created and the disruption we have managed to achieve. As CSF started with my vision to change the narrative of business ventures should be, I must give credit to Karnesh who excelled in shaping what the CSF has become today.”
“As a new mother who has chosen to be an actress by profession, I have to balance my life in an entirely new way like never before. So I have decided that whatever time I have, I will devote it to my first Therefore, I have decided to retire from the CSF in the belief that the most capable person, Karnesh, is pursuing the vision with which it was created in the first place,” she wrote.
Anushka Sharma hoped the production house would reach greater heights under the guidance of her brother Karnesh Sharma.
“I will continue to be Karnesh’s and CSF’s greatest cheerleader and hope to be a part of many messy projects that CSF produces.”
“I look forward to seeing how he grows the business ever bigger with the stellar lineup of projects he has handpicked, nurtured and brought to life. My best wishes to the entire CSF family . I love you all,” the note concluded.
Clean Slate Filmz’s upcoming projects include Netflix Original series “Mai” and feature film “Qala,” also for the streaming giant.

Anushka Sharma’s ‘Chakda Xpress’, a film inspired by the life and times of former Indian cricket captain Jhulan Goswami, is also backed by Clean Slate Filmz.
